In an exciting venture, February 2022 saw our team approached for a unique project: shipping a Shepherd’s hut from the remote landscapes of Scotland’s West Coast to Lyttelton, New Zealand. Nestled in the picturesque village of Tayvallich, the hut’s journey began amidst Scotland’s stunning natural beauty.
Logistical Ingenuity: The initial challenge involved navigating the hut’s collection from an access-restricted location. Our solution entailed a meticulously coordinated lift, maneuvering the hut over a wall while carefully avoiding overhead cables, and placing it onto our transport vehicle. This operation required close communication with local residents due to the temporary obstruction of their road.
Preparation for Transit: Upon arrival at Southampton port, our team’s expertise shone once again as we reattached the hut’s wheels, preparing it for its Roll On Roll Off service journey. The loading onto the Talisman vessel marked a significant milestone, as captured in the visual documentation of the event.
Collaborative International Logistics: The journey from Auckland to its final destination in Lyttelton was facilitated through our established partnership with a trusted New Zealand logistics provider. This collaboration underscored our commitment to seamless international logistics solutions.
After traversing over 11,560 miles, the Shepherd’s hut reached its new home in Christchurch on 14th September, a testament to the dedication and logistic prowess of Peters & May.
