Ongoing and escalating tensions in the Middle East have significantly increased the risk across key global shipping corridors, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.
Vessels currently operating in the area have in some cases been required to take shelter or have been redirected. The situation remains fluid, but we are receiving daily updates from shipping lines, several of which have now confirmed the suspension of all services to and from the Middle East region.
For cargo already onboard vessels destined for the region, End of Voyage declarations have been issued in some cases. Our team will contact you directly should any of your shipments be affected.
We are also seeing the introduction of war-risk surcharges by some carriers, and fuel costs are expected to rise. Unfortunately, these surcharges can sometimes be implemented with little or no prior notice, and we are already seeing them applied on routes not directly related to the Middle East.
In addition, the closure of several major transshipment airports in the region has begun to impact global air freight operations, causing delays and reduced routing options.
We are continuously monitoring developments and will ensure you receive the latest updates relating to your shipments.
If you have shipments planned for the region or in the coming weeks, please contact our team so we can discuss alternative routing options and potential impacts.
